Light + Dark Matter

The tight kitchen space in Carroll Gardens presented a challenge in creating a fully functional kitchen for the owner, an avid cook. The design solution incorporated a working countertop that included a small seating area, allowing the kitchen to double as a usable eating space. White terrazzo floor tile from Concrete Collaborative was used, and a dramatic effect was achieved by pairing it with dark black cabinetry. This bold palette was then softened by white backsplash tile and white oak cabinetry. Open shelving provided the perfect opportunity to curate the owner's specialty kitchen items and cookbook collection. Bon appétit!
